I’m sure by now that even LGBTQ+ people who don’t use poppers know about the recent search and seizure of the brand of poppers, Double Scorpio. And with that, many might believe that those who are against poppers (like myself) are praising the Trump administration for this action and hoping for it to continue.
Well, it might surprise you to learn that I am not one of those in support of this action against poppers. Nor am I hoping for it to happen to others with this administration.
Anyone who has known me personally or followed me on social media for any good length of time knows that I am not a fan of poppers. To the point that while I might have a tryst with a guy who does poppers, that guy will not be given the opportunity to be upgraded to a dating situation. For 2 reasons:
- I do not support substance abuse. And even if some sex parties allow poppers, but not drugs like meth, G, K, cocaine, etc., use of it is still substance abuse. And while being a vers guy that prefers to bottom, I know that sometimes you have to really work with a prospective bottom to get him/her/them ready for entry. Hence why I made my 5-step rule for substance-free anal sex. For that person penetrating you should have a presence that makes them your anal motivator and your anal relaxer;
- I AM TO BE YOUR HIGH. Whoever I have sex with, be they my top or my bottom, they are not just my high. The pleasure of joining with their body is my only high. So it would not speak well of my self-respect if I tolerate someone in a long-term relationship who does not see me the same way.
With that being the case, one would think I would be all for this new government crackdown on the production of poppers, like the recent search and seizure of Double Scorpio. Well, you would be wrong.
I don’t support it because of the motivation. After all, it comes from the unhinged Department of Health led by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. An idiot throwing around false information trying to correlate poppers with HIV/AIDS. And let’s not ignore that voice of his. Every one’s voice comes from someone in the family. With that said, after hearing the Kennedy name for all 5 decades of my life, I have never heard a Kennedy with a gravely voice like his. With such a departure from the family’s known voice, it is easy to conclude that RFK, Jr. has done some substance abuse of his own. So is his stance against poppers a case of “doth protest too much”?… Probably.
This crackdown on poppers is also an anti-gay attack. For poppers have long been known as a “gay” thing. In fact, an idiotic male customer recently came in the sex shop I work at with a female showing her the poppers saying that “fa**ots use them to have anal sex”. However, in my 11 1/2 years of working at that sex shop, I am seeing more and more straight people come into the store buying poppers. With that being the case, this administration, like many before it, could care less if the LGBTQ+ community die off from short, long, or improper use of poppers. This is more about stopping straight people from using it and being at risk of those harms.
Also, if I stood with the Trump administration on this actual witch hunt, it would and should lessen the credibility of my stance against poppers. Compare it to how at Trump’s recent State of The Union address, he had people who experienced tragedies in the gallery. Because of them letting Trump speak on their behalf with those tragedies, my compassion is lessened for what they endured. This might sound inhumane, but I believe if you endure a tragedy or have a justified stance against something, a person of integrity would not let a demon be their advocate. And Trump is exactly that – a demon. So those in that gallery whom Trump paraded around to make his point of fake news and hate lessened their integrity.
For these reasons, with my great disdain for poppers, I do not stand with the Trump administration on this. Perhaps if this was done by a preceding administration with enough integrity to give a medical explanation like one expressed in one of my past articles. But the Trump administration did not even do that. This was done, like most things with him, on the sneak. And with my honesty superior to that of Donald J. Trump, his administration’s actions are something that I cannot and will not support.
