I have written before about why I never wanted to make a video with someone wearing a hood. I won’t include a link to that article because while that rule still stands, some things have changed since then. Enough that I might actually get rid of that article.
Such changes as:
- exceptions to the rules, and;
- better language to specify the reasons for my stance
The exception to my No Hoods rule is if I am hooking up with someone who does either pup play or cosplay. Why those excpetions? Because those are forms of play with hoods that were done long before the 2020 pandemic and lockdown.
With that said, YES, my refusal to play with guys wearing hoods is partly because they are continuing a behavior that was part of what was done during virtual sex parties during the lockdown. Which I reluctantly predicted many would try making it a more definite part of play in gay spaces for they are a means to hide one’s identity.
A Step Backwards
The idea of hiding one’s identity does not sit well with me. For I am someone who grew up with a religious background in which I heard repetitious anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. Leading me to contemplate suicide from my teenage years until finally coming out to myself as I was nearing 31 years old. After overcoming all of that, to the point of being the sexually liberated person I am today, I make no apologies for my disdain for the idea of hooking up or making content with guys who wear masks and hoods (like ski masks). Because I see frolicking with such guys as a step backwards. Not just for me, but for anyone who claims to be an out and proud gay or bisexual person.
I once said in a post on X, like that saying, “Dance like no one’s watching”, I like to fuck like no one’s watching. Regardless of whether it is a private or public space. So unless, I’m partaking of pup play or cosplay, someone wearing a hood means I am fucking like someone’s watching. Someone the wearer(s) wants to hide from… as if they are committing a robbery. And that is a feeling I refuse to feel, especially during a sexual encounter on-camera or off.
Plus, after all of my years of refusing to hide my sexual orientation, or my work in adult entertainment, when a video is being made on my turf or with me calling the shots, with all the world to see, I am not giving my body to a person who is hiding via a hood. Whether it’s someone on the down low, or someone just trying to hide from their conservative family and/or primary employer, I don’t care. If you are going to go through such lengths to hide yourself, then you should not be doing porn.
I Must See You
This is not to say that you must show your face in porn. In one of my earliest homemade 1-on-1 sex videos titled “Why It’s WE Fucked”, you never see my top’s face. If the video is not on my creator platforms, then you can see the proof in animated gifs that I still have saved from the video. That is because when we agreed to make that video, I promised him that I would find ways to edit out his face. And I did. By at points where his face might show, during editing, I either zoomed in and angled it or cropped it to show everything below his head.

So what is the difference, you ask?
The difference is that the viewer might not see his face, but unlike when one is wearing a hood, me, my top’s sex partner is not denied the beauty of his face. As it should be.
So any scene with hood-wearing turns me off because it means that the person wearing the hood is so concerned about a person outside of the 2 (or more) of them that he is willing to deny his sex partner(s) the beauty of his face. I see that as something I earned the human right to by offering him the gift that is my body. Earned from the moment “Hello” is said upon showing up to the moment we part ways.
With that said, what irks me about content creators who wear hoods is that both the one wearing the hood and the other sex partner do not hold themselves to the same level of worth as I do. They are willing to sacrifice that level of respect for themselves and their sex partner(s) all to appease folks outside of the room —voyeurs. Voyeurs who are willing to see you as a headless body of a certain color to appease their racism-driven lust. And because it’s for money, these content creators are okay with that. That bothers me greatly.
I know some of these hood-wearing content creators are probalby hot enough without their hoods that they could incite my lust to consider agreeing to an off-camera hook-up, or an on-camera hook-up with perfectly timed zooming and cropping to avoid sight of their face. After all I have said here, it might be a longshot, but I would consider that.
In the end, it is like everything else that must be done for a satisfying sexual encounter. We must have good communication to learn each others’ limitations and mindsets. That is a discussion that must be had first.
