Yes, the title is correct. I said, “You’re welcome.”

For about 7 years ago, I wrote a list on Tumblr partially crediting myself for the slight uptick at the number of times black males bottomed in interracial scenes. And since no performer of any color publicly addressed the issue until I came along, and I have been blogging about it since 2006, I rightly stand by my claim for being partly responsible for the slow, but still ongoing change you’re seeing.

Calling this out has even led to clashes with Str8UpGayPorn‘s Zachary Sire, who blocked me when I recalled such moments in a September reply post on Twitter/X. Probably to cover-up how the empathy he seems to show in articles now is likely performative. However, since that Tumblr article was 7 years ago, some updates are in order as well as reiterating how that article came about.

The list came about because one reason I entered the gay porn industry was to break a glass ceiling by giving representation to Black gay males as bottoms in interracial sex. The problem is the porn studios did not feel the same. Porn producers still wanted to sexualize their white guilt by having the imagery of black males as extremely aggressive tops. However, this slightly changed when the Recession during that time started to effect the gay porn industry. To which they decided they needed something “new”. So as white males throughout history have done, they took a Black person’s suggestion(mine) without acknowledgement of its source. Instead, they treated my suggestion as if it was their “new” idea. And also in corporate white male fashion, their pride would not let them admit to their narrow-mindedness. So while I was available, they never asked me to be a bottom. Much like in many workplaces where an employee has a promotion-worthy idea, but the employer gives the promotion to someone else.

And I retired from studio-based porn in 2009. So it has taken this long for more scenes of black males as bottoms in interracial scenes. Showing how these white porn producers wanted to stick to the fetishizing and imposing of that limiting negative imagery of black males.

For the fake sexual liberation and follower-mentality of many Americans use the racism-based ideas told by porn to direct them as to whether someone should be a top, bottom, or versatile in gay sex. As well as whether they and their sex partner should be dominating or submissive, or romantic or rough. Well, the white-run LGBTQ+ propaganda is quick to say “Representation matters”, but will not do the same when it comes to Black people, and even more so those with darker hues.

For at the time I was doing studio-based porn, a Black man bottoming in an interracial scene was practically unheard of. Instead, black males in interracial scenes were often dominating and rough. Often to the point of not looking sexually adventurous, but looking like rapists. Especially in gangbang scenes. However, there did seem to be a slight uptick in black males bottoming when the Recession under George W. Bush caused less purchasing of gay porn.

While there are more scenes with black males as bottoms in interracial scenes than when I wrote that Tumblr article, gay porn is still overwhelmingly more so showing black males in the aforementioned limiting roles of being dominating tops. This is also true of orgy scenes. So the work I started by entering the industry to break that glass ceiling, then at least causing cracks in it by calling out various studios & directors for their part in it is by no means complete.

Speaking of orgy scenes, have you noticed how seldom Black performers are in an orgy scene unless it is all-Black? It is very seldom. And when they are in one, they are often playing that same old role of aggressive top. Those few other times, they are vers. However, never do you see a Black male as a total bottom like whites, light-skinned Latinos, and Asians are allowed to play. And be that black male a top or vers, his participation never gets as much screen-time as white and light-skinned males of color.

This is because that limiting perception of Black beauty and masculinity to sexualize white guilt from slavery is still there. So in those instances, they will tolerate a token performer. However, in those orgies when you see no black performers at all, it is most likely because of the white and light-skinned males of color contacted, one or more is their absence of manhood felt entitled enough to tell the host or producers “No Blacks”. And the host/producer is even more so void of manhood by accommodating the request of the racist douchebag(s). With the reason I say “even more so void of manhood” being my ongoing saying:

The follower of a fool is a bigger fool than the original.

With that said, while there is progression in the industry and content creating that I know my speaking up spearheaded, there is still much representation of Black sexual beauty that needs to be shown. Like I said earlier, the saying “Representation matters” is treated as valid only when a white person says it for a white person’s lack of representation. It should matter to any person of any gender, color, ethnicity, age, etc. And playing along with that still ongoing limited representation is why I keep many porn performers, both studio-based and content creating, at a serious distance. So if you see me flirting with some performers online, until a chain of DMs results in a hook-up, take those interactions you see as just that… Flirting online.

And it will stay that way until I see someone man-up and give us the same brand of representation, once and for all.
